Victor Osimhen to Liverpool is a transfer rumour that’s coming to life in quite a big way.

Last week, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Anfield outfit – as covered by HITC Sport – were interested in bringing Osimhen to Merseyside.

The 23-year-old has already managed 10 goals in 13 appearances across all competitions this season, hence why clubs like Liverpool are interested.

However, the player will not be going anywhere in January.

At least, that is the view of Fabrizio Romano, who revealed to Caught Offside this morning that the Naples-based outfit – who have an eight-point cushion at the top of Serie A – have zero intention of selling their prized asset this winter.

He said: “Napoli insist they won’t sell Osimhen or any other player in January. The price tag in the summer was €120m and nothing happened, now they’re doing great in Serie A and Champions League so there are no plans to sell him in January at all.”

Victor Osimhen to Liverpool is a curious transfer rumour, simply because they only signed Darwin Nunez in June for a club-record £85 million.

The Nigeria international is, like Nunez, a number nine and with the former valued at over £100 million, well either way that’s a lot of money on another striker when only one can play, unless Jurgen Klopp is plotting a radical overhaul of his formation.

Make no mistake though – Osimhen is a massive talent.

In fact, Italian pundit Alessandro Altobelli claimed earlier this year that he was ‘better than Dusan Vlahovic‘ in what was a massive indictment for the player.

Whether he’s better than the Juventus marksman is a matter of debate.

What isn’t debateable is the fact that Osimhen is a fantastic goalscorer and it’d be fascinating to see him in the Premier League, albeit not in January.
