Newcastle United are among those linked to signing Cristiano Ronaldo, following his explosive interview about Manchester United.
Speaking to Piers Morgan last week, the 37-year-old Portuguese icon delivered a scathing assessment of the Red Devils and manager Erik ten Hag, after falling out favour under the Dutchman at Old Trafford.
According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle have been offered the chance to bring Ronaldo to St James’s Park.
That looks even more possible now in light of the fact that Manchester United have terminated the player’s contract this week, making him a free agent in light of the interview on Talk TV.
But are Newcastle really interested? Well according to 90 Min, no.
According to that publication, the Magpies have contacted Ronaldo’s team to inform him that they will not be pursuing a deal to bring him to Tyneside.
The report adds that although they aren’t interested in the former Real Madrid and Juventus superstar, Eddie Howe is keen to strengthen his attacking options during the January transfer window.
Honestly, this is probably for the best.
Howe’s side are already third in the Premier League standings after losing only once this season and truthfully, Newcastle wouldn’t benefit by signing Ronaldo.
As astonishing as he has been down the years, he brings with him a level of toxicity and this Magpies squad seems to have a lot of harmony within it.
This is shaping up to be a stunning season for the St James’s Park outfit and they’re better off without the 37-year-old.
