Atletico Madrid have reportedly joined the growing pack of clubs interested in signing France international Marcus Thuram, with Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham all recently linked with the attacker.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga giants have entered the race to sign Thuram, who this season has been one of the best forwards in Europe with the Borussia Monchengladbach star hitting an impressive 13 goals and four assists in 18 appearances, with the attacker’s form winning him a place in France’s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad.

With Thuram’s contract coming to an end this season, though, a move in January feels very likely for the Bundesliga superstar. And interest in the past few weeks has ramped up considerably, with 90min recently claiming that Arsenal, Newcastle and Tottenham are all weighing up moves for the 25-year-old, alongside Manchester United.

The race to sign Thuram is already quite a stacked list, and Atletico’s inclusion will only complicate matters for the likes of Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe, who are both keen to add an extra source of firepower to their squad for the second half of the Premier League season.

Whilst Atletico crashed out of Europe completely this season, Diego Simeone’s side remain one of the biggest clubs in Spain. And with rumours circulating around the likes of Joao Felix, a new leading attacker to rival Alvaro Morata will be a welcome sight for many Colchoneros supporters.

Indeed, Thuram himself could be open on a move to Atletico. However, given how much Premier League interest the versatile forward has, the Frenchman might view England as the next logical step for his career, especially given the form the 25-year-old is in this season.

Thuram has been one of the best attackers in Europe this season, with the French forward finally hitting the levels many expected from the promising Gladbach star a few years ago. However, for Atletico, the La Liga side might need a miracle to actually sign the Bundesliga talisman.

After all, the Premier League is the biggest and most lucrative division in all of football, and for Thuram, the chance to play in England for an Arsenal or a Newcastle might be too good to turn down even if Atletico present a respectable package in the coming weeks.
