Rangers want Michael Beale but may force him to appoint a Scottish assistant coach if he does make a return to Ibrox.
The Gers made the decision to part ways with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst on Monday morning.
Van Bronckhorst may have guided Rangers to the Europa League final last season but now finds himself out of work.
A dismal Champions League campaign coupled with falling nine points adrift of Celtic has done for Van Bronckhorst and Rangers are again seeking a new manager.

Rangers want Michael Beale
One of the favourites right now appears to be Michael Beale.
Beale served as one of Steven Gerrard’s assistant coaches during his time as Rangers boss.
Gerrard then took Beale to Aston Villa with him last year but they parted ways over the summer.
Beale decided to leave Villa in order to become a manager in his own right, taking over at Queens Park Rangers.
Despite a limited budget, Beale has enjoyed an encouraging start at Loftus Road and has QPR challenging for the Championship playoffs.
Rangers now want Beale as their manager and The Scottish Sun claim that he has the backing of most of the Ibrox board.
Rangers could move quickly to bring Beale back to Glasgow but the report adds that the Gers would have one key condition.
It’s suggested that a move for Beale would be dependent on him having a Scottish assistant alongside him.
That would open up a couple of moves, with Kevin Thomson mentioned.
The former Rangers ace is out of a job having quit Kelty Hearts over the summer and has been doing punditry work for some time.
Thomson is one option but what about Gary McAllister?
McAllister worked alongside Beale at Rangers and Aston Villa but finds himself out of work having been sacked alongside Gerrard last month.
McAllister knows Rangers and Beale and a return to Glasgow shouldn’t be ruled out if Beale accepts the Gers’ condition.
