Comfort films are an absolute gift on the best or worst of days and everybody has their individual choices when it comes to movies that can lift them up and raise a smile no matter the situation. For die-hard Disney fans, Enchanted is a nostalgic treat of an experience and you won’t be hard-pressed to find audiences who could recite the script from memory.

Released in 2007, the Amy Adams vehicle skewered the Disney princess tropes to hilarious effect and has become something of a fond favorite over the years.

Now, audiences are invited to make their occasional viewing a double bill with its sequel, Disenchanted.

Directed by Adam Shankman, the fantasy musical premiered on Disney+ on Friday, November 18th 2022 and sees Amy reprising the iconic role of Giselle in an all-new adventure, with other familiar faces dropping in to reprise their parts.

On the other hand, Robert’s (Patrick Dempsey) daughter Morgan Philip is portrayed by a different actress this time around, although original star Rachel Covey has a Disenchanted cameo to look out for…

How to find Rachel Covey’s cameo in Disenchanted

Rachel may not reprise the role of Morgan in Disenchanted but fans can nevertheless spot her during a “blink and you’ll miss it” cameo.

For a few seconds, Rachel can be seen during the sequence where Giselle accidentally morphs Monroeville into the fairy tale town of Monrolasia. She is one of the residents there and is credited only as Monrolasia Girl.

You can find the cameo by watching the film on Disney+ and skipping ahead to 40:55. Her character reminds Giselle that a festival is set to take place in the town on that very night.

It’s wonderful to see Rachel back, despite being in an entirely new role.

The reason for the Morgan recast has not been explicitly addressed. However, it likely stems from the fact that Rachel is not a full-time actor and has instead been busy working on her career as a playwright and composer, ScreenRant reports.

Her first musical – Painting Faye Salvez – was performed during the New York Musical Festival in 2017 to acclaim and she also graduated from Northwestern University in 2020 ahead of the Disenchanted shoot.

Given that Disenchanted takes place 10 years after the events of the original movie and that only 15 years have passed in real life, the decision was likely a creative one and not related to the age of the actresses.

Who plays recast Morgan in Disenchanted?

The older version of Morgan that features in Disenchanted is played by Gabriella Baldacchino.

She is a 20-year-old American actress who has previously starred in such movies as Unschooled (Tiffany) and Ask For Jane (Irma), while she was also on the TV series The Conners (Isabella).

You can find her on Instagram at gabbybaldacchino.

‘It’s just funny to just play the opposite’

Gabriella recently spoke with Narcity about juggling the tonal shifts of her character, mixing reality and fantasy.

“I think getting to transform into this opposite from what my character was because she’s this funny, sarcastic, witty character and then she becomes this chippering little princess,” she said.

“I think it’s just funny to just play the opposite.”
