Tottenham Hotspur want Tammy Abraham but now face a battle with Aston Villa with the Roma striker’s future in Italy now allegedly ‘uncertain’.

Abraham surprised many by choosing Italy as his new destination when he left Chelsea in 2021.

Roma swooped in with Jose Mourinho luring Abraham to the Eternal City and last season was simply outstanding for the striker.

Abraham racked up 27 goals in 53 games across all competitions, helping Roma win the Europa Conference League title.

Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur want Tammy Abraham

This season has been a different story though.

Abraham has lost his form at the absolute worst time, scoring just three times in 15 Serie A outings.

That means Gareth Southgate has left Abraham out of the World Cup squad when he looked almost nailed-on just a matter of months ago.

Changes could be coming as Corriere dello Sport claim that Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur both fancy signing Abraham.

Roma don’t want to sell in January but it’s stated that Abraham’s future is ‘uncertain’ and he could leave in the summer.

A move to Villa would give Abraham a return to his former club having spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Villa Park, scoring 26 times in 40 games.

Villa do have strikers at Unai Emery’s disposal though with Ollie Watkins, Danny Ings, Cameron Archer and now Leon Bailey considered to be strikers under the Spaniard.

Signing Abraham would surely mean that one of them will leave and convincing him without European football will be a tough ask.

As for Tottenham, they no doubt have big plans under Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici but signing big-name strikers is difficult.

Abraham would have to commit to playing as support to Harry Kane rather than the leading man up top, which is ultimately why he left Chelsea in the first place.

Joining Spurs would also see Abraham join the bitter rivals of his boyhood club Arsenal.

Abraham may have come through the Chelsea ranks but he actually claims to have grown up supporting the Gunners.

The Athletic claim that Abraham was actually desperate to join Arsenal in 2021 and was telling Chelsea teammates of that desire.

Abraham instead joined Roma and it feels like the door to Arsenal is now closed after their signing of Gabriel Jesus.

If it came down to Tottenham versus Villa for Abraham, we would back Spurs – but the giant striker will hope to turn things around at Roma in the coming months.
