Lucas Moura has told Sport Flow Club that he will ‘listen to offers’ when his Tottenham contract expires at the end of the season – and that should convince Newcastle and Aston Villa to reignite summer interest in the Brazilian.

Lucas, 30, is out of contract at the end of the campaign, contrary to reports he signed a deal until the summer of 2024. Indeed, Football London report that his deal lasts until 2023, with the option of adding another 12 months.

So, it appears that Lucas is planning to leave Spurs, or at least consider all offers that come his way, next summer. He will be allowed to leave Tottenham on a free, unless he agrees the extension which currently resides in his deal.

Fabrizio Romano says Newcastle and Villa wanted to sign Lucas in the summer. But a move did not materialise, with the ex-PSG star remaining at Spurs. His latest comments suggest he might be open to joining Villa or Newcastle.

“My thought is to finish this season with Tottenham, try to win a title this season and, free of contract, sit down with my family and listen to the offers that will appear. That’s when you analyse everything: country, club, financial side.”

Lucas will listen to offers: Should convince Newcastle and Villa

Tottenham would have been keen to keep Lucas at the club last summer. Spurs do have numerous options in the final third but injuries to Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski show it was key to keep Lucas and Bryan Gil at the club.

But come next summer, Spurs will surely have more options in attack. If they are to keep Antonio Conte at Spurs, then more money will have to be spent in the January window, and the next summer. So, an extension is unlikely.

Newcastle and Villa are clearly admirers. The need at Newcastle, perhaps, is not as great. Miguel Almiron’s form has lessened the need for a new right-sided winger. But at Villa, they desperately lack width. Unai Emery is now boss.

It will be interesting to see if Villa remain keen even with Emery at the helm, following Steven Gerrard’s exit. But, Lucas would certainly improve both sides and his game time would increase. On a free, he would be a top signing.
