Italian site Mondo Calcio News claim that Tottenham are ‘ahead of everyone’ in the race to sign Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic with his future at the Nerazzurri in doubt – but Inter are trying to hard to keep their Croatian star.
Brozovic, 30, signed a new contract at Inter recently which will keep the £184k-a-week star at Inter until 2026. But his performances this season have been somewhat mediocre. After a hamstring injury in September, he has failed to start.
Indeed, the injury saw him miss nine games in League and Cup and on his return, Simone Inzaghi did not choose him to start. Instead, he made three appearances from the bench, despite starting all nine games prior to the injury.
The report says that Spurs want to sign Brozovic and as things stand, they are leading the pack in a bid to try and convince Brozovic to reunite with Antonio Conte. But, Inter are desperate to keep him. He is currently in Qatar.

Tottenham ahead of everyone in race to sign Brozovic
While Brozovic is the ideal kind of midfield addition for Tottenham, Spurs should only be in the market for the Inter star if the price is right. At 30, he is entering the latter third of his career. Injuries are likely to increase, and form dwindles.
Serie A might actually be the best place for Brozovic. But to be fair to compatriot Ivan Perisic, he decided to make the move from Inter at 33. Slightly different for a central midfielder, but there is no doubt he fits Conte’s style of play.
He would be perfect for a 3-4-3, with his defensive-minded style suiting Conte’s engine room. In a 3-5-2, he has the quality to either sit in the Yves Bissouma role, or contribute to attack like Rodrigo Bentancur. The price has to be right.
Given his wages and the fact he has signed a new deal until 2026, Brozovic might cost a pretty penny. That is, despite his age. But Inter do need to sell to balance the books. That will be the determining factor if Spurs are interested.
