Newcastle maestro Bruno Guimaraes is currently away at the World Cup with Brazil, where he has suffered a slight setback.

Bruno Guimaraes injured away from Newcastle

Well, according to UOL, the 25-year-old was seen limping and looking uncomfortable during a training session for Brazil.

Bruno was forced to leave the session due to a pain in his left foot, and the Brazilian news outlet state that physios spent far more time with the Newcastle No.39 than they did with any other player who had suffered a knock.

The South American eventually returned to the pitch, but continued to hobble in pain.

It is not the first instance of problems emerging from the Brazil World Cup camp.

A number of photos have emerged showing the Brazilian players going in rough on their own teammates in training, although UOL state that Tite approves of the intensity, and does not want his side to go easy on one another.

Of course, we understand that thinking in terms of preparing for the Group Stage to begin, but Tite must ensure his players do not injure each other, as they would be quite foolish to shoot themselves in the foot so close to the tournament starting.

Blow for Bruno Guimaraes

The severity of Bruno’s injury is not disclosed, although the fact he was able to return to the training session is a positive.

Nevertheless, even sitting out one session or two will come as a blow to the Newcastle star, as ESPN believe he is fighting with Fred for a place in the starting XI, and must make every minute count ahead of Brazil’s opening game against Serbia next Thursday.

Newcastle fans will be devastated if they are unable to see their No.39 shining on the World Stage, although from a selfish point of view, it may be good for Eddie Howe if the planet didn’t see just how good the midfielder is.

Should Bruno be fit enough to play every game for Brazil, we’re sure Newcastle will find themselves inundated with bids in 2023.
