On November 14, several people on the internet thought Jimmy Fallon is dead after a fake post from The Tonight Show went viral on Twitter. However, the star is alive and well in 2022.
Celebrity death hoax have become a common phenomenon in the internet and Fallon happened to be another star who fell a victim of this.
Fallon’s death hoax comes after people like Tom Holland, Wendy Williams, and others were targeted.
How rumors about Jimmy Fallon being dead started
The rumors about Fallon being dead started emerging on Twitter after people came across a post that read: “It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of late night legend, husband, and father of two, Jimmy Fallon. 1923-2022.”
The post also contained a throwback picture of Fallon with his dog.
People fell victim to the fake post as the photo was made it look like the announcement came from the official account of the Tonight Show. However, the actor is alive and well.
Viral post debunked
The first giveaway about the post being fake was the birth year that was mentioned in it. The post says that Fallon was born on 1923, when in reality, he was born in 1974.
The television personality is 48 years old but if someone were to believe the year mentioned on the post, it would mean that Fallon is 99 years old.
Clearly, someone who is every good at photoshop and editing has managed to have social media users convinced that Fallon has died.
