After being given his marching orders by Leeds, Marcelo Bielsa told his closest friends about his desire to return to management, as reported by the Athletic.
Recently, the Athletic had also stated that AFC Bournemouth were keen on the Argentine tactician taking over from Gary O’Neill to become their new head coach.
Bielsa’s heroics at Leeds make him tailor-made for the Bournemouth job
After years of suffering mediocrity at Elland Road, it was Marcelo Bielsa’s arrival that led to the club eventually securing promotion to the English top-flight during the 2020/2021 season.
Despite many claiming that the Whites were destined for the drop, Bielsa’s tireless brand of football led to his side finishing as high as ninth place at the end of the campaign.
Several fans and pundits alike were especially in awe of Leeds’ style of play as they made their return to the Premier League, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side characterised by their breathless pressing and rapid counter-attacks.
While things went pear-shaped in the veteran’s second season in the league, with Leeds flirting with relegation which eventually led to his sacking, there is no denying that he set the blueprint for how a struggling club can reach the top again.

Keeping said factors into mind, the ex-Marseille coach would be an incredible appointment for the Cherries.
Bielsa’s message to his friends after Leeds sack
As mentioned earlier, the Athletic have reported that Marcelo Bielsa told his closest friends that he would be interested in managing in England once again.
In addition, the 67-year old also suggested that he was open to returning to management, after being shown the door by Leeds United at the end of last year.
With Bielsa seeming keen on working his magic once again, there is no question that Bournemouth should pounce at the chance of bringing him on board.
