Hugo Lloris has emphasised why Dejan Kulusevski is such a key player for Tottenham Hotspur.
Kulusevski’s welcome return from injury
After picking up exactly where he left off from last season, Dejan Kulusevski suffered an untimely hamstring injury at the start of October.
As the Swede was unavailable in six Premier League games for Spurs, it is no coincidence that his side lost three out of said fixtures, while only winning the remaining matches.
While Tottenham ended up tasting defeat against Liverpool recently as well, the ex-Juventus winger impacted proceedings straightaway, coming off the bench to assist Harry Kane’s strike to make the score 2-1.
In the North Londoners’ dramatic 4-3 victory against Leeds United on Satuday as well, the 22-year old showcased his quick feet by leaving defenders for dead, before setting up Rodrigo Bentancur’s winner.
One only wonders whether the Lilywhites’ results would make for better reading had Kulusevski been fit, as his return from injury has been emphatic so far.
Lloris on Kulusevski’s importance
Hugo Lloris has discussed what makes Dejan Kulusevski so important for Spurs, and why he could be crucial during the second half of the season, after the Qatar World Cup comes to a closure.
“Kulu is a very important player, he showed it last season, being decisive on a lot of occasions for the team”, he told Alasdair Gold of Football.London.
Lloris continued, “We missed him for many weeks and the feeling we have today is a fresh player, fully fit and it was the case against Liverpool and today [against Leeds].”
“You can see that in one vs one, he is very aggressive in the final third. Today, he made many assists for the team and helped the team a lot to come back in a game and win the game.”
“We know how important he is for the team. It will be the case also for the second part of the season.”
