Ben Foster fears in-form Rodrigo could leave for bigger and better things if maintains his goalscoring for Leeds United this season.

The summer of 2022 showed Leeds’ best player will leave for greener pastures

After coming off a stellar campaign at Elland Road, Raphinha decided to depart the club by making a dream switch to Barcelona.

Surviving relegation by merely three points last season, Leeds managed to stay in the Premier League by the skin of their teeth at 17th place.

As a result, it was unsurprising to see the Brazilian international embrace a move to the Spotify Camp Nou in the summer.

The same can be said for Leeds hero, Kalvin Phillips, who bid farewell to his boyhood club in favour of a transfer to Manchester City.

While there is no questioning the England international’s affinity towards Leeds United, one expected him to accept City’s approach to sign for them, off the back of Pep Guardiola’s side becoming Premier League champions.

Foster thinks Rodrigo could follow in Raphinha and Phillips’ footsteps

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ben Foster said that he believes Leeds could be set for heartbreak again, as Rodrigo would naturally be open to an exit if a bigger club came calling next season.

“Rodrigo for Leeds, my gosh, this boy is on fire. What a season he’s having!”

“They’ve got to hold onto him but again, Leeds seem to be that team where if somebody keeps smashing it, they’ll get bought. It’ll be £40-50 million quid or whatever it is.”

Currently, no Spanish player has outscored Rodrigo in the top five European leagues, as per Opta Jose, which emphasises what a cracking season he has had so far.

Only time will tell whether the Spaniard decides to stay put at Jesse Marsch’s side or decide to walk through the exit door in the summer.
