Newcastle United fancy Christian Pulisic but the winger could now end up signing a new contract to stay at Chelsea.

This season is going better than even Newcastle fans could have expected.

Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Chelsea means Newcastle head into this World Cup break sitting third in the Premier League table.

Eddie Howe’s men are now only dreaming of European football but now Champions League football after a superb start to the campaign.

Newcastle United fancy Christian Pulisic

Howe would no doubt love a couple of additions in January but if we know anything about Newcastle’s transfer approach, it’s that they will be very calculated in the market.

Another winger would be welcomed and Newcastle had a strong interest in signing Christian Pulisic over the summer.

Fabrizio Romano stated in September that Newcastle were ‘obsessed’ with the idea of signing Pulisic.

Newcastle only wanted to secure a loan with option to buy though and Chelsea decided to reject their approach.

Pulisic only started 13 Premier League games last season and the thought was that he needed to leave Chelsea ahead of the World Cup.

The 24-year-old has only managed three league starts this season but will be hoping for more action under Graham Potter moving forward.

90Min now claim that Pulisic is in line for a new contract at Chelsea and could now commit his future to the Blues.

Pulisic has just over 18 months left on his Chelsea deal and they want to make sure that he isn’t in a position to walk away or leave in a bargain deal.

The American international now needs to think very carefully about his future.

Pulisic may be tempted to sign a bumper new Chelsea deal but if he is sat on the bench more often than not, he may be better off going elsewhere.

Newcastle will surely retain their interest in Pulisic and will be watching this contract situation very closely.
