Fabrizio Romano issues update Liverpool target Youssoufa Moukoko

Fabrizio Romano has stated that Liverpool and FC Barcelona could face competition from as many as seven clubs to sign Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko, who is yet to decide on his future.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, the transfer window guru revealed that many clubs are chasing the Germany international, who is currently on course to leave Dortmund for free with the teenager yet to resolve his future with the Bundesliga giants.

Moukoko has been one of the stars of the season for Dortmund with the 17-year-old wonderkid bagging six goals and six assists in all competitions, with the forward’s performance and current contract situation attracting interest from the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona as reported by Sport.

Whilst Moukoko staying at Dortmund is still the most likely outcome from this transfer saga, Liverpool will no doubt want to push the likes of Barcelona to the youngster’s signature, with the attacker an ideal player for Jurgen Klopp’s future plans with the Anfield side.

Indeed, youngsters have thrived under the German manager over the years at Liverpool, and signing Moukoko would be quite the coup for the Reds. However, according to Romano, Klopp faces competition from many top sides across the European continent.

Romano said on Moukoko: “There are really many clubs monitoring Youssoufa Moukoko, more than six or seven around Europe. It’s absolutely normal as he’s a top talent, but Borussia Dortmund are still pushing to extend his contract and trying to find a way. The manager Edin Terzic will be a key factor to convince Moukoko.”

Moukoko’s future must be decided soon amid Liverpool interest

Moukoko future’s will likely becoming a big talking point in the coming weeks if the attacker plays a starring role for Germany and the 2022 FIFA World Cup. And for Liverpool, they will be banking on the teenager having an explosive competition as it could push forward the idea of the youngster leaving Dortmund.

Whilst Liverpool’s attacking options are quite healthy, adding a wonderkid like Moukoko will always please supporters. And if the forward can shine in Qatar, there might be an outside chance that the Reds can accelerate a deal to sign the 17-year-old.
