Tottenham Hotspur want Robert Sanchez but now face competition from both Manchester United and Chelsea in the race for his signature.

Tottenham haven’t needed to find a first-choice goalkeeper for a long, long time.

Their 2012 deal to sign Hugo Lloris from Lyon has been a masterstroke and he has been a key man at Spurs for more than 10 years now.

Yet with Lloris now approaching 36, out of contract in 2024 and showing some patchy goalkeeping this season, Tottenham need to think about a successor.

Tottenham Hotspur want Robert Sanchez

It isn’t going to be Fraser Forster and it seems unlikely that Brandon Austin will end up making the step up.

Tottenham therefore need to dip into the market and TEAMtalk claimed just a matter of days ago that Spurs fancy Brighton and Hove Albion stopper Robert Sanchez.

It’s suggested that the Spain international will cost at least £35million with Brighton unsurprisingly reluctant to sell.

Sanchez is a great modern-day goalkeeper thanks to his ability to play out from the back and Graham Potter hailed his ‘amazing’ shot-stopping ability at Brighton.

Tottenham will now face a real battle for Sanchez though with two more Premier League clubs keen.

The Mirror claim that Manchester United and Chelsea are both eyeing up Sanchez for a potential move.

David De Gea is out of contract at the end of the season and United need to find a replacement.

Erik ten Hag wants to play out from the back and Sanchez’s ability on the ball has put him onto United’s radar.

Chelsea are now managed by former Brighton boss Potter, who doesn’t seem all that convinced by Edouard Mendy.

Sanchez may be viewed as Chelsea’s long-term goalkeeper and Potter could raid his former club in 2023.

Tottenham beat plenty of competition to sign Lloris in 2012 and may need to repeat the trick if they are to sign Sanchez.
