CM have reported that Liverpool are leading the race to sign PSV winger Gakpo in the summer of 2023.

The report has claimed that the 23-year-old Netherlands international winger will leave PSV next summer.

Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Leeds wanted to sign the youngster in the summer of 2022 and made an offer of €50 million (£43.81 million) for him, according to CM.

Exciting

In our view, Cody Gakpo would be a very good signing for Liverpool and would make Jurgen Klopp’s side much better and more potent in attack.

The winger – described as “dangerous” by former Arsenal and Manchester United striker Robin van Persie on BT Sport (27 October, 5pm) – scores goals and creates chances, and he would give Klopp another good option in attack.

The 23-year-old has scored nine goals and given 12 assists in 14 Eredivisie matches for PSV so far this season.

Gakpo has scored three goals and given two assists in five UEFA Europa League matches so far this campaign.

Last season, Gakpo scored 12 goals and gave 13 assists in 22 Eredivisie starts.

PSV do sell their best players, so Liverpool could be able to sign the winger if they pay what the Dutch club want for him.
