Tim Sherwood has said on Sky Sports News (3:20pm, November 12, 2022) that Tottenham Hotspur fans did not want Emerson Royal in the team against Leeds United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Antonio Conte’s Tottenham took on Jesse Marsch’s Leeds in North London today.
Emerson Royal starts as the right wing-back for Spurs.
And he missed an easy chance in the 18th minute.
Former Tottenham manager Sherwood was following the match for Sky Spots, and he was not impressed by the miss from the Brazil international.
The Englishman noted that Tottenham fans were not happy with the £25.73 million (Sky Sports) Emerson every time he touched the ball.

Sherwood said: “I can’t believe it. I can’t tell you how easy this chance was.”
The Sky Sports pundit added: “The fans don’t want him in the team anyway. And every time he touches the ball, they are giving him so much stick.”
Improvement needed
In our view, Emerson Royal is a good player, but the Tottenham Hotspur right wing-back needs to improve his game.
Now, of course, we must not forget that the Brazilian is only 23 and is still young.
And he was playing as a right-back and not as a right wing-back before Antonio Conte came in at Tottenham.
So, we have to give Emerson the benefit of the doubt and allow him time and space to improve and grow.
However, it is clear that the former Barcelona player needs to improve and step up his game.
Emerson needs to play well consistently and deliver the goods to get Tottenham fans back on his side.
