Liverpool have been plunged into uncertainty this week after FSG put the Reds up for sale, and now Crystal Palace could be impacted by the decision.

Crystal Palace shareholders could buy Liverpool

Well, that is according to the Liverpool Echo, who believe Josh Harris and David Blitzer – who own an 18% share in Crystal Palace – could now give that up in favour of getting involved at Anfield.

The American duo – who own Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment – could potentially get a consortium involving Sir Martin Broughton back together after FSG made it clear they are open to investment, or a full sale.

Harris and Blitzer joined Broughton and also Lord Sebastian Coe in an attempt to buy Chelsea from Roman Abramovich earlier this year, only for Todd Boehly to eventually secure the Blues.

Due to a conflict of interests, Harris and Blitzer would have to give up their involvement in Crystal Palace to buy Liverpool from FSG, which could scupper any transfer plans the south Londoners had for 2023.

The Liverpool Echo add that Harris boasts a wealth of roughly £5bn alone, while Marca believe Blitzer is worth £1.1bn – the Mirror believe FSG want £4bn to sell Liverpool, which explains why Broughton has been enlisted to help.

Liverpool & Crystal Palace both need a solution

It goes without saying that both Liverpool and Crystal Palace need this situation to be resolved quickly, mainly in regards to squad investment.

FSG are unlikely to sanction more significant signings for Jürgen Klopp while they have one eye on the exit door at Anfield, while Crystal Palace – as aforesaid – will also struggle to plan their recruitment with uncertainty over their co-owners.

The World Cup provides both the Reds and the Eagles with a welcome break to address this looming situation.

Hopefully, there is an outcome soon, as Klopp and Patrick Vieira will not want this to drag on.
