Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are interested in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Liverpool linked with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen

The Italian publication has claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on Osimhen, whose performances for Napoli this season have hugely impressed the two Premier League clubs.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis could reportedly sell the Nigeria international striker for over €100 million (£87.49 million), but it is unlikely that the Italian club will entertain any offers for the 23-year-old in the January transfer window.

That’s because Napoli are doing extremely well in Serie A and in the UEFA Champions League at the moment.

Luciano Spalletti’s side are at the top of the Serie A table with 38 points from 14 matches, eight points ahead of Lazio and defending champions AC Milan, who are second and third respectively.

Napoli will face Germany club Eintracht Frankfurt in the Round of the 16 in the UEFA Champions League.

Brilliant striker

Victor Osimhen is one of the best young strikers in Europe, and we think that the Napoli star would be a great signing for Liverpool.

The 23-year-old has done well for Napoli since his move from Lille in 2020 and is showing his quality in the UEFA Champions League as well.

The striker – described as “phenomenal because he runs alone at five players and gets through” by former Napoli and Cagliari head coach Walter Mazzarri in Goal in September 2021 – has scored eight goals and given two assists in Serie A and has scored one goal in the UEFA Champions League so far this season.
