Speaking on the House of Champions Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Liverpool’s January transfer plans and a reported impending takeover.
It was reported this week that the Merseyside club have been put up for sale by FSG, and, understandably, many have wondered what this means for the club’s January transfer plans.
With Liverpool struggling in the league at the moment, the Reds are in desperate need for some reinforcements, but this takeover news could have thrown a spanner in the works.
However, according to Romano, the news of an FSG sale will not affect Liverpool’s January plans, stating that the club are already looking at potential targets to bolster their squad in the winter window.

Liverpool will be busy
The journalist was asked if the FSG news will affect their January plans.
“I think no. Honestly, I think no. I am told that they still have the same plan to go for important players if they have the opportunity, if not they will wait. This is the Liverpool approach. I see them looking at the market in January. They have too many injuries, they are already looking at some opportunities in the market and they know that with this Real Madrid tie it is important to give Klopp some more players. I don’t know how many, but I think they will be on the market in January,” Romano said.
Still committed
FSG may be looking to move on from being Liverpool’s owners, but it looks as though they’re still committed to the club for now.
It sounds as though some January investment is on the way, and who knows? Maybe the American owners will want to go out with one last hurrah and make a statement signing.
Jude Bellingham has been strongly linked, so perhaps that’s the one to keep an eye on, but convincing Borussia Dortmund to sell the England international is certainly easier said than done.
