As per the latest information provided by the Athletic, one of the main reasons Jurgen Klopp signed a contract extension was because he was assured that Fenway Sports Group were set to stay put at the club for the long-term.

The German boss is believed to have a strong bond with FSG president Mike Gordon, which is why one must wait and watch to see how he reacts to a change of ownership.

It is also stated that Klopp was informed about the American owners’ desire to sell the club or bring in a new minority stakeholder in October.

However, Gordon was hoping that this information did not become public to avoid any distractions, at least before club football came to a halt due to the upcoming World Cup.

Due to the former Borussia Dortmund manager bringing back the club’s golden era during his time at the helm, the Anfield faithful have especially been critical of FSG due to their much-maligned frugality.

So much so that a majority of Liverpool supporters would be delighted if the current ownership bid farewell to the club after 12 years in charge.

However, Jurgen Klopp has never publicly fired shots at the owners, in the same vein as the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have done so at previous clubs.

In fact, the three-time Champions League finalist has reserved special praise for the American owners on plenty of occasions for how much they care about the club and their decision to famously reduce ticket prices back in 2016.

Furthermore, FSG showed incredible patience towards the man himself to slowly but surely build a burgeoning project in the red half of Merseyside.

With Klopp committing his long-term future to Liverpool till 2026, only time will tell whether he takes the drastic step of walking away from the club in case Fenway Sports Group do the same.
