Manchester City will reportedly move to sign Brazilian wonderkid Matheus Franca in 2023, with the midfielder having a release clause worth £87m.

According to journalist Julio Miguel Neto, Franca is a player who City have been watching for quite some time, with Brazilian publication Bolavip reporting in January of this year that the Premier League giants were monitoring the Flamengo youngster, with Franca exploding onto the scene this season.

The 18-year-old has made 24 appearances in all competitions for the Brazilian giants, scoring an impressive eight goals and bagging three assists as well. And for City, being patient with Franca could now pay off with an offer for next year now in the works.

The English giants have been quite active in South America in recent years with City signing the likes of Yangel Herrera, Kayky and Dario Sarmiento to their youth ranks, with Franca seemingly the Manchester giants next big project from Brazil.

Whilst City will be able to sign Franca for a much cheaper fee than his £87m Flamengo release clause, there’s a strong chance that the midfielder could still be the most expensive teenager the reigning Premier League champions ever purchase.

Indeed, the transfer fee could be steep, but the potential benefits could be massive for City, with Franca already showing early signs of developing into an incredible talent given his record this season and the midfielder’s sensational versatility, with the youngster already able to play numerous positions with ease.

City’s ever-growing CFG empire is impressive, to say the least, and the fruits of the multi-club model are starting to bear fruit based on numerous success stories across the organisation. Yet Franca could easily become the biggest hit yet if the English side make the move to sign the midfielder next year.

After all, Franca has proved this season in South America’s biggest league to be a talent who has the potential to become a superstar. And for City, signing the teenager would be quite the power play from the English giants as it would strengthen their grip over the South American market, something the Manchester side have established well.
