While many put forth Tottenham Hotspur as potential Premier League title challengers, the ongoing season has been a mixed bag for the Lilywhites thus far.

Despite sitting in 4th place in the league table, Spurs have been far from convincing with their all-round displays this term.

Additionally, the North Londoners’ summer additions are yet to set the world alight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

For starters, Richarlison is yet to score a single goal in the division, despite playing 369 minutes of football.

As for Ivan Perisic, he has been hit and miss so far at Tottenham, playing a variety of roles during his early days in English football.

In the cases of Yves Bissouma and Djed Spence, the pair have been on the periphery of things for Antonio Conte’s side.

However, Spurs supporters have a reason to smile as it has been claimed that the club are eyeing reinforcements in the winter transfer window.

As per a report by Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are assessing upgrades at wing-back and centre-back, while also looking for an understudy to Dejan Kulusevski in January.

While the North Londoners have been generally reliable at the back this season, Eric Dier’s howler in the side’s 2-1 defeat was a stark reminder that a fresh face could elevate the team’s defence.

Furthermore, Antonio Conte, who is yet to hand Djed Spence a full Premier League start has admitted that he is still awaiting the Englishman to “improve” before blooding him into the side, as previously relayed by HITC, which indicates why the club are on the lookout for a new wing-back.

To add to that, Emerson Royal has shown little to no progress in his second season at the club.

In Spurs’ latest fixture against Jurgen Klopp’s side, it was also clear to see that the side lacked a backup to Dejan Kulusevski, who was rushed back from injury in the 2nd half to turn the game on its head.

Handing Antonio Conte the tools in January he needs to build a winning structure could be the answer to Tottenham enjoying a fruitful second half of the campaign.
