Fabrizio Romano has said that Stade Rennais could demand as much as £45m for star winger Martin Terrier, who Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, the transfer guru revealed that Rennes are keen to land a big payday for Terrier in 2023 with the attacker enjoying yet another productive campaign for the Ligue 1 side, with the 25-year-old bagging an impressive 11 goals and four assists in all competitions.
According to 90min, Leeds are now interested in signing Terrier, alongside Manchester United. And with rumours circulating of a potential France call-up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the attacker’s stock could well rise even more ahead of the January transfer window.
Attack has been a problem area for Leeds all season, with Jesse Marsch’s side only bagging 15 goals in 12 Premier League fixtures, and signing a player like Terrier would be a massive boost for the Whites. However, Rennes’ asking price could be way too much for the Elland Road side.

Indeed, Leeds spent heavily in the summer as Marsch revamped the squad to print his own mark on the team. And whilst Terrier would be a brilliant addition, Rennes’ £45m transfer fee could be a step too far for the Yorkshire giants in the January window.
Romano said when asked about Terrier’s transfer situation: “Sources close to Rennes guarantee they’d ask for €45-50m for Terrier, but nothing is happening yet. I think he’ll have a fair few options, but it’s too early to say anything concrete on his future right now.”
Leeds could be stuck in quest to sign Terrier

January will be viewed by many Leeds fans as a window where an attacker simply must be signed, and although Terrier would be perfect, Rennes’ demand for their star winger might be a step too far for Marsch’s men, who could look for a cheaper alternative.
After all, Terrier’s valuation could stretch Leeds way too thin heading into the second half of the season, and given how many other options are out there for the Whites, the Rennes star might not be a missed target for the Yorkshire side in 2023.
