Liverpool have not yet approached SV Sandhausen regarding a deal for goalkeeper Patrick Drewes but sporting director Mikayil Kabaca is pleased to see one of his key players catch the eye of a Premier League giant, speaking to KA News.
Jurgen Klopp’s interest in Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Jude Bellingham is very well documented at this stage.
Until now, however, no one would have imagined that a 29-year-old plying his trade in the 2.Bundesliga would also be on Liverpool’s radar, as the inconsistent Reds look to dip into the German market in 2023.

According to BILD, Liverpool have made contact with Drewes’ representatives. A late-blooming shot-stopper, once of Wolfsburg and VFL Bochum, Drewes will become a free-agent next summer.
As such, he would therefore represent a low-risk, low-cost addition to Klopp’s goalkeeping department.
Will Liverpool make a shock move for Sandhausen goalkeeper Patrick Drewes?
Kabaca, Saundhausen’s sporting director, insists that no offers have arrived just yet. But, while he hopes to see Drewes stay beyond January and perhaps even the summer too, suggestions that Liverpool are casting their sights over the Stadion am Hardtwald are undoubtedly a source of real pride.
“So far, no one has approached us,” Kabaca explains. “And we have not received an offer.
“(It is) an honour when SVS players are on the radar of top international clubs. That suggests we are doing a lot of things right.”
Drewes, labelled ‘outstanding’ by German publication Kicker following a series of eye-catching displays, would provide further support for Alisson Becker at Anfield. 35-year-old Adrian San Miguel, currently Liverpool’s third-choice goalkeeper, will depart when his contract expires in less than 12 months’ time.
Once of Real Betis, Adrian is eyeing a potential return to his Spanish homeland.
“I would say yes,” he told Cadena Ser ahead of the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid in Paris. “Obviously, the earth pulls a little. I would like to return to LaLiga. But I still have a year left on my contract.”
