AFC Bournemouth star Jaidon Anthony has lauded Arsenal as one of the best teams he has played against this season, with the Gunners sweeping the Cherries away 3-0 back at the Vitality Stadium in August.

Speaking on the Beautiful Game Podcast, the 22-year-old attacker was full of praise for Mikel Arteta’s side after being asked which team has been the most difficult to play against this season, with Anthony naming Arsenal as the north London side comfortably beat Bournemouth earlier on in the season.

A brace from Martin Odegaard and a thunderbolt from William Saliba secured an easy win for Arsenal as the Gunners still sit top of the Premier League, with the north London side’s most recent result being a 5-0 victory against fellow promotion side Nottingham Forest.

Whilst most fans aren’t getting caught up in Premier League title talk, Anthony was blown away by what he saw against the Gunners in the summer, with the winger saying: “Arsenal were unbelievable against us when we played them. The few signings that they have made over the summer are top.”

Indeed, such praise is quite incredible given that Bournemouth lost 9-0 to Liverpool just one week after their defeat to Arsenal. But the praise from Anthony is a testament to just how well Arteta has got things right this season and how spot-on the Basque manager’s business has been over the summer.

Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have been revelations in their own right, whilst the arrival of Fabio Vieira and return of Saliba has added more youth and dynamism to the Gunners that was somewhat missing last season, with Arsenal now on track to do something incredible this campaign.

Being hailed as ‘unbelievable’ is always quite the term in this day and age, yet for Arsenal, the praise from Anthony is more than deserved given how many expectations the Gunners have already broken down this season and what could potentially lie ahead of them in the coming months.

With Arsenal still top of the Premier League table heading into the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, the sky is the limit for the north London side, and whilst the title still feels like a distant dream, the fearlessness the team are playing with will make any supporter dream of the impossible this season.
