Everton and Newcastle United want Armando Broja and are still keeping tabs on the Chelsea striker for a loan move.

Broja was a big topic over the summer transfer window.

The Albanian international showed huge promised on loan at Southampton last season and returned to Chelsea with his future unclear.

Would Broja be given a chance to shine at Chelsea? Many hoped so but it hasn’t really happened.

Broja has been given just 191 minutes of Premier League action this season and some will wonder about a 2023 loan move.

Everton and Newcastle United want Armando Broja

Two clubs who fancied Broja over the summer were Everton and Newcastle United.

Both teams were in the market for striking additions and were heavily linked with signing Broja.

CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs now claims that Everton and Newcastle are still monitoring Broja’s situation.

Jacobs claims both teams are eyeing a loan move with no option to buy even if Chelsea aren’t actively shopping Broja around.

Such interest in Broja is understandable.

The 21-year-old was hailed as ‘really, really exciting’ by Gary Neville last season and showed some promising signs as an all-round centre forward at Southampton.

Interest from Newcastle is a surprise though unless Chris Wood is leaving in January.

Callum Wilson is scoring regularly and Alexander Isak should be back in action after the World Cup.

Adding another striker just doesn’t make sense unless somebody is leaving for Newcastle and Chelsea would surely want any Broja loan to include major playing time – something that may not come at Newcastle.

Broja does make more sense for Everton though.

Frank Lampard has ties to Chelsea and the Toffees still need more quality in the final third.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is back and Neal Maupay joined over the summer but Broja can give Lampard another goalscoring threat.

We would make Everton a more likely destination than Newcastle as things stand, but much will depend on Graham Potter’s plans for Broja in the second half of the season.
