Nottingham Forest have reportedly reignited their interest to sign Atalanta star Ruslan Malinovskyi, with Tottenham and West Ham also in the race to land the 29-year-old in January.
According to CalcioMercato, the newly-promoted Premier League side are back in the chase to sign Malinovskyi, who is expected to leave Atalanta in the new year after coming close to departing the Serie A title-contenders in the summer transfer window.
CalcioMercato previously reported that the likes of Spurs and West Ham were interested in signing Malinovskyi in the off-season. However, the Ukrainian’s £43m price tag put many sides off from signing the attacking midfielder, who will likely go for a cheaper transfer fee in January.
With Malinovskyi’s situation with Atalanta being described as ‘uncomfortable’, there’s a strong chance that a move to the Premier League is now on the cards in January, and Forest will be keen to beat the likes of Tottenham and West Ham to the midfielder’s signature.

Although the former KRC Genk star has bagged just one goal and one assist in just under 400 minutes of football this season, there’s no denying Malinovskyi’s quality when playing for a team that plays to his strengths. And for Forest, the 29-year-old could be their saviour in the Premier League.
Steve Cooper’s side sit bottom in the English top-flight following their latest defeat in the division, this time to the hands of Arsenal. And whilst more signings might not seem like the best move given their incredible haul over the summer, Malinovskyi is simply too good a player for Forest to pass up on in January.
Forest beating Tottenham & West Ham to Malinovskyi signing would be huge

Forest find themselves in quite a hole ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, with the City Ground side sat bottom of the Premier League and struggling for any sort of form. Yet January can provide Cooper’s side with some solutions, and signing Malinovskyi could be one impressive option.
After all, the midfielder is in the prime of his career and desperate to play regular football. And Forest signing Malinovskyi ahead of Tottenham and West Ham would be a huge statement to the rest of the Premier League, as well as a move that could save the Nottingham-based club’s top-flight future.
