Fabrizio Romano has said that Newcastle United will look to sign wingers in the January transfer window, the Magpies keen to add more attacking depth to their exciting squad.
Speaking to CaughtOffside, the journalist claimed that Newcastle will look to build their team out with quality players in January with the wide position set to be the main focus in the transfer window, with the Magpies currently flying in the Premier League standings.
Eddie Howe’s latest result saw Newcastle win 4-0 against Aston Villa, sending the Toon to fourth in the league table a few weeks before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break, and a strong window in January could propel the northeast side even higher up the ladder.
Indeed, Newcastle’s transfers since taken over by the PIF regime have been nothing short of incredible. And according to Romano, the Magpies will stick with the strategy that has helped them hugely over the last two windows to get them in the position they currently find themselves in.

Romano said: “Eddie Howe is doing excellent work at Newcastle. On the pitch, the team are playing really, really well, and off it, they are sticking with the same strategy, sign players but only when they’re 100% convinced the player is the right fit for now and the future.”
The Italian transfer guru also teased Newcastle supporters by saying: “Nothing is guaranteed yet, but the Magpies are looking at wingers for the January window. I expect them to identify some targets during the World Cup.”
Correct transfers in January could keep Newcastle’s European dream alive

Newcastle’s business in the last two transfer windows has been nothing short of incredible, and Howe making it a hat-trick could have a huge role in the Magpies qualifying for Europe well ahead of schedule, with very few supporters predicting the Toon to be in the mix so soon into their new era.
The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Sven Botman have taken Newcastle a whole new level, and Howe bringing in similar players in January would be a serious statement of intent from the English coach, who has the potential to finish in the top-seven this campaign.
