Newcastle United will only let Javier Manquillo leave St James’ Park in the January window if he asks to go. The right-back has started to attract some interest from La Liga side Cadiz.
That is according to Chronicle Live, which reports the Toon will not block Manquillo’s path if he seeks a move. The Spaniard is yet to play a single second so far this season with boss Eddie Howe favouring Kieran Trippier. The 28-year-old has also only made seven squads.

Yet Howe does not plan on losing Manquillo in the mid-season market as he considers the Madrid native to be a squad player. The Magpies boss still admires what the former U21 international can offer in terms of depth. Even though he has not played at all since April.

Newcastle will let Manquillo go if he wants to leave amid interest from Cadiz
Manquillo considered quitting Newcastle in the summer and his agent sought out interest in Rafa Benitez’s £4.5m signing from 2017. But the defender ultimately elected to stay at St James’ and fight for his position against Trippier. He is also under contract until June 2024.
Cadiz are now showing an interest in signing Manquillo from Newcastle in the winter sales, though. The Nuevo Mirandilla outfit are considering targeting the Atletico Madrid product in January to help head coach Sergio Gonzalez in Los Piratas’ efforts to stave off relegation.

The Andalusian club are engulfed in a fight at the wrong end of the standings to stay in the Spanish top-flight. It is the second season running that Cadiz have had to fight for a place in the division. They only avoided relegation last term by one single point over Granada.
Howe will respect Manquillo and let Newcastle sanction a transfer if the full-back seeks a move amid Cadiz’s interest. The Toon will also ‘do all they can’ to help the ex-Sunderland star Steve Bruce once called ‘terrific’ find a new club in Spain if he wants out in the winter.
