According to Calciomercato, FC Midtjylland face a fight to keep Gustav Isaksen with Arsenal, Newcastle, West Ham and AC Milan all interested in signing the winger.

Arsenal, Newcastle, West Ham & AC Milan want Isaksen

Well, the Denmark Under-21 international has burst onto the scene this season with some stunning performances in the Europa League, where he is currently second in the scoring charts alongside Marcus Rashford and others.

Isaksen has scored three goals in five Europa League appearances, while also netting four goals in 14 Superligaen outings so far this term.

Now, Calciomercato believe a number of top sides are keen to sign the 21-year-old.

The Italian news outlet believe FC Midtjylland will not accept anything less than €20m (£17m) for the Danish wonderkid, who was described as “very strong” by Lazio Director Igli Tare after Isaksen scored two goals against the Italians.

AC Milan are portrayed as the side most interested in signing the Dane, with their policy focused on hoovering up the brightest talent from across Europe – they have already captured gems such as Rafael Leao and Fikayo Tomori.

Calciomercato add that Fiorentina are also keen to sign Isaksen.

AC Milan should fear Arsenal, Newcastle & West Ham

While the Italian giants are one of the biggest sides in Europe, Italian football has slipped far behind the Premier League in terms of financial might.

All three of the Gunners, Magpies and the Hammers can easily afford the £17m asking price, and are capable of going far beyond that, whereas AC Milan may struggle to stay involved if the figures become too large.

For example, even Leeds outbid AC Milan for Charles De Ketelaere over the summer, although the Belgian did actually choose to join the Serie A champions, despite the fact it meant Club Brugge received less money.

That was according to Vincent Mannaert – CEO of Club Brugge – who told the MidMid podcast: “Leeds United offered forty million euros for Charles. It is not that De Ketelaere was not interested. But, at that time, his preference was for AC Milan.””

Of course, from a sporting aspect, AC Milan are as attractive as they come, but financially, Arsenal, Newcastle and West Ham can push them all the way in the race to sign Isaksen.
