Goal Brasil claim Chelsea have opened talks with the representatives of Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes to determine the player’s price tag ahead of the January transfer window. Guimaraes has become a fan favourite on Tyneside.
Joining the club in January from Lyon, the Brazil international has been magnificent for Newcastle. The 24-year-old has played just 27 games for the Toon, having a hand in 10 goals in midfield. He has a contract at Newcastle until 2026.
A report from Give Me Sport earlier this week stated that Guimaraes is one of four midfielders Chelsea are targeting in January. Along with Ajax’s Edson Alvarez, Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Tottenham target Weston McKennie.
Now, the latest report claims that Guimaares – who starred against Tottenham on Sunday hours after the birth of his son – has been the subject of Chelsea talks. Chelsea have spoken to his agents to request the Newcastle man’s price.

Chelsea open talks with representatives of Newcastle star Guimaraes
It is a move that seems unlikely. The interest from Chelsea is more than fair – they need a midfielder. N’Golo Kante is injured and like Jorginho, both players are out of contract at the end of the season. Guimaraes is the ideal replacement.
A player that is still only 24, but already producing the king of quality expected from the best midfielders in English football. Ultimately, Newcastle spent the best part of £40million to get him – but he could easily be worth double.
Newcastle will not want to lose the Brazil star – and have a contract for Guimaraes until June 2026. So, the Toon are in an excellent position regarding Guimaraes’ future. The Toon have propelled themselves into fourth in the table.
So, as Newcastle continue to grow and Guimaraes remains the beating heart of his side’s midfield, why would he want to go? Especially, if Newcastle can finish the campaign in Europe, then Guimaraes will surely end up remaining.
