Mykhaylo Mudryk’s price-tag has risen to £60 million after a series of scintillating Champions League performances for Shakhtar Donetsk, Ukrainian reporter Igor Burbas writes on Telegram of the reported Arsenal, Leeds United and Newcastle target.

In September, the likes of Leeds, West Ham, Brighton and Wolves sent scouts to Hampden Park as Ukraine took on Scotland during the international break (90Min).

Just one month later, Mudryk appears to moved beyond the financial reach of all but the most deep-pocketed clubs.

“In private conversations with European agents, about a week or two ago, the management of Shakhtar stated its position that the auction for Mudrik would begin with a figure of 70 million euros,” explains Burbas.

“This despite the fact that, before the start of the Champions League, the winger was valued at 50 million euros.”

Shakhtar Donetsk’s Ukraine star Mykhaylo Mudryk will now cost £60m

This, then, should serve to quickly narrow down the number of potential destinations for the much-coveted Ukraine international.

Saudi-backed Newcastle United could still afford him (i News). Arsenal too; Fabrizio Romano claiming that talks between the Gunners and Mudryk’s camp have already taken place. The likes of Leeds, Wolves, Brighton and West Ham will probably be forced to look elsewhere, however. Everton too; their initial £25 million offer now good enough to buy Mudryk’s standing leg alone.

“He is unstoppable,” Shakhtar coach Igor Jovicevic says of his 21-year-old talisman after Mudryk waltzed through the Celtic defence before lamping a heat-seeking missile of a shot into the back of Joe Hart’s net; knocking the Hoops out of Europe along the way (UA Tribuna).

“Just when you think you are about to catch him, he becomes explosive and too fast.”

Dubbed the third-best left-winger in Europe behind only Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr; Mudryk now has six goals and seven assists from 11 appearances this season. He is making no secret about his interest in a move to Arsenal, too. The Gunners are perhaps one of the few clubs who could afford that £60 million price-tag.

“Of course, if there is an opportunity, I watch (to play in) matches in the top championships. Bayern Munich are playing very powerfully and strongly. Manchester City always play great football,” Mudryk explains.

“But I have great admiration for the style of Arsenal; a talented coach, young, individually strong players who play good and modern football.”
