Liverpool wanted Stanislav Lobotka but it looks like Napoli are now ready to keep hold of the midfielder with a brand new contract.
The Reds are bound to be linked with a host of midfielders between now and the end of next summer.
It’s clear that Liverpool need to revamp their midfield options and at least four midfielders could leave at the end of the season.
James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all out of contract whilst Arthur Melo’s surprise loan move will come to an end.
Liverpool may need to bring in two or even three midfielders to inject some life into Jurgen Klopp’s engine room, with names starting to be linked.

Liverpool wanted Stanislav Lobotka
Jude Bellingham is the most popular name but Napoli’s Stanislav Lobotka can now be added to the list.
Tuttomercatoweb report that Liverpool have shown an interest in luring Lobotka to the Premier League.
Chelsea and Manchester United are also understood to be interested in Lobotka but all three could be left very disappointed.
It’s stated that Lobotka has chosen to stay with Napoli and will now sign a new contract until 2028.
Lobotka will allegedly receive around €3million-a-year (£50,000-a-week) to stay with Napoli, plus €500,000 (£435,000) in bonuses.
The deal will be announced in November according to this report with Lobotka effectively taken off the market amid interest from England.
Lobotka, 27, has been outstanding for years now, going back to his time with Celta Vigo before joining Napoli in January 2020.
The Slovakian only stands at a diminutive 5ft 7in tall but has earned comparisons to Luka Modric for his style of play.
Lobotka is incredibly hard working and has been protecting Napoli’s back four in a 4-3-3 this season.
It looks like Lobotka isn’t all that interested in joining a Premier League club right now and his decision will leave Liverpool to go back to the drawing board.
