Rangers fancy Michael Beale and could move for Steven Gerrard’s former assistant should they choose to sack Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Gers were hammered 7-1 at home by Liverpool on Tuesday night.
It’s always hard to come back from a 7-1 home defeat and Rangers’ Champions League campaign has been a disaster.
In four group stage games, Rangers have scored just once whilst conceding 16 goals.
That’s not a recipe for success and some fans are starting to turn on Van Bronckhorst less than a year since his arrival.

Rangers fancy Michael Beale
Rangers haven’t yet sacked Van Bronckhorst but it does feel like the writing is on the wall, even with Rangers able to close the gap to Celtic to just two points today.
The Gers may well sack Van Bronckhorst soon but who on earth comes in?
The Sun’s Alan Nixon offers an interesting claim today, suggesting that Michael Beale is top of Rangers’ wish list if they do sack the Dutchman.
Beale was Steven Gerrard’s assistant at Rangers, spending three-and-a-half years at Ibrox whilst earning a strong reputation as an exciting coach.
Beale then followed Gerrard to Aston Villa in November of last year but chose to quit over the summer, becoming Queens Park Rangers boss.
Beale is shining as a manager with QPR sitting fourth in the Championship table, notching seven wins from 14 league games this term.
Many of the current Rangers squad know Beale and that may well make him a popular appointment should Van Bronckhorst go.
Beale, 42, was hailed as ‘incredible’ for his knowledge by Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and it’s notable that Gerrard’s results haven’t been too impressive since Beale’s exit.
Beale is happy at QPR but the pull of returning to Rangers may be strong and he is a name to keep a close eye on amid questions over Van Bronckhorst’s future.
