Speaking on The Sky Sports Football Podcast, Jamie Carragher has been discussing Erling Haaland ahead of Liverpool’s game against Manchester City this weekend.
The Norwegian is the man on everyone’s mind heading into this game, and there have been plenty of comparisons between Haaland and Liverpool’s new signing, Darwin Nunez.
Plenty of Liverpool supporters will be envious of City having a player like Haaland, but Carragher doesn’t think he’d be all that good if he was playing on Merseyside.
Indeed, the pundit says that Haaland wouldn’t score anywhere near as many goals for Liverpool due to the amount of service he’d get.

If Haaland played for Liverpool
Carragher discussed Haaland and how he’d get on for Liverpool.
“Look at the goals Haaland has scored, they have the best passer of the ball we’ve ever seen in the Premier League and that helps when you have Haaland up front. If Haaland was playing for Liverpool right now, there’s no way he would score that amount of goals because he wouldn’t have that quality behind him and Liverpool aren’t playing as well,” Carragher said.
He’d be fine
Carragher may think that Haaland wouldn’t get the same sort of service that he gets from Kevin De Bruyne if he was playing for Liverpool, but let’s not forget, Trent Alexander-Arnold is just as competent a playmaker.
Indeed, Alexander-Arnold is just as creative as De Bruyne, while Andy Robertson isn’t too bad down that left side either.
If Haaland played for Liverpool, he would feast on those deliveres from Alexander-Arnold and Robertson, and while he may not score as many as he’s scored for City, we’re sure he’d still be amongst the top scorers in the division – he’s that good.
Unfortunately for Liverpool, Haaland plays for their biggest rivals and they need to figure out how to cope with him this weekend.
