According to 90min, Chelsea have held talks with Victor Orta as they show interest in luring him away from Leeds.

Chelsea plan Leeds raid

Well, it is said that Chelsea have interviewed the 43-year-old as Todd Boehly aims to bring a Sporting Director to Stamford Bridge to work alongside Graham Potter.

90min believe Michael Edwards – who left Liverpool earlier this year – has also been spoken to, as well as Paul Mitchell, Monchi, Tim Steidten, Lee Congerton and Luis Campos.

Edwards appears to be the No.1 target for Boehly despite his insistence on taking a break from football, with the American even trying to negotiate an agreement which would see him begin work from July 1st.

However, 90min claim that it remains to be seen whether this would interest the transfer expert, who earned a reputation as one of the best in the business during his time at Anfield.

Therefore, Boehly continues to make advances on alternative options, including Orta.

Leeds must fend off Chelsea

Whether it be through the offer of a new contract or the guarantee of transfer funds to play with, Leeds must do something to recognise Orta’s worth to them.

Of course, the Spaniard has made a few mistakes in the transfer market, although his work at Elland Road has largely been a success.

Orta particularly enjoyed a strong window in the summer just gone, helping Jesse Marsch add the impressive Brenden Aaronson to his squad, as well as Marc Roca, Tyler Adams, Luis Sinisterra and Rasmus Kristensen.

He also played a huge role in finally achieving promotion back to the Premier League, with his efforts to sign Ben White on loan from Brighton proving pivotal that year.

Ultimately, the fact Orta spoke to Chelsea suggests he is interested in the role, so Leeds must do something to fend off the Blues.
