Harry Kane has told Tuesday afternoon’s press conference – as per Football London – that he is fully focused on playing for Tottenham amid reports that Bayern Munich are interested. He did label Bayern, though, as a “top, top club”.

Kane, 29, has made a wonderful start to the Premier League campaign. The England skipper has eight goals in nine games, only outscored in England’s top tier by the breathtaking Erling Haaland at Manchester City – who has 15 goals.

Of course, it is a stark contrast to the start of last season – when Kane struggled to get going. It comes after a failing to earn a move to Manchester City, a move which is now off the cards due to Haaland’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund.

German magazine Kicker recently reported that Bayern have opened initial talks with Kane’s representatives. Ahead of Wednesday night’s clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, Kane was asked about the links to the German champions.

“I’m focused on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do my best for us, for sure. Bayern are a top, top club but all my concentration is on Tottenham and trying to win tomorrow,” Kane said in a press conference, as per Football London.

Kane says he is Focused on Tottenham but Bayern are a top club

The news will be met with a mixed response from Tottenham fans. Kane does not say that he is going to rule out a move to Bayern. But he also states that he is fully focusing on Spurs. It might be that he is waiting this season.

Waiting, perhaps, for two things. To see how Tottenham do in the Premier League, Champions League and whether they can win a trophy. Also, waiting to see if manager Antonio Conte remains in the dugout – beyond the summer.

Kane has a contract until the summer of 2024 and if he does not sign a new deal before next summer, clubs will circle. But the chances are that Kane will now end up remaining at Spurs. He will want to remain in the Premier League.

His sights will be firmly set, alongside winning trophies, on beating Alan Shearer to the all-time Premier League goalscoring record. A move abroad ruins that. Manchester City are the only step up, and they now have Haaland.
