Striker Troy Parrott has endured a difficult loan spell at Preston North End from Tottenham Hotspur – and his tumultous time in Lancashire continued on the weekend; scoring in a win over Norwich, but getting injured in the celebration.
Parrott, 20, joined Preston after shining for MK Dons in League One last season – having a hand in 17 goals. It was felt he was ready for the Championship. He has struggled to prove that this season, though Preston’s tactics are a factor.
Indeed, before Saturday’s surprise, and impressive 3-2 win over Norwich, Preston had only scored four goals – and conceded four – in 12 league games. Parrott had only scored in a Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield Town.
But it was complete change on Saturday. Preston won 3-2, Parrott netting the winner on 80 minutes after coming on at half-time. However, elation quickly turned into frustration. Lancs Live report he suffered an injury.

In bizarre circumstances, they report that the injury happened in the celebration following the goal:” Tested Krul with a volley and his strike led to the winning goal. Gutting hamstring injury when celebrating,”, giving him a 7/10 rating.
Tottenham striker Parrott injured in Preston celebration
A real blow. In the first few seconds after scoring, Parrott would have been exuding huge relied in opening his second-tier account for Preston – in what was a superb win. Preston, despite their lack of goals, sit in eighth in the league.
They are showing top-six credentials. But to then suffer an immediate hamstring injury will be a blow, just as he was about to perhaps, gain some momentum. Hopefully for Parrott, Preston and Spurs, it is only a two-week injury.
That, rather than a longer-term issue. Tottenham will be keen to see Parrott go on to reach double figures, with the Ireland international seen as long-term back-up for Harry Kane. It would certainly save Spurs some cash.
