Galatasaray want Ridvan Yilmaz just months after Rangers managed to lure the exciting left back from Besiktas to Ibrox.

The Gers sold Calvin Bassey to Ajax in a big-money deal after shining in the Europa League.

Bassey’s ability to play at left back and centre back effectively left Rangers with not one but two holes to fill in the transfer market.

Liverpool’s Ben Davies arrived as the left-sided centre back addition before Rangers raided the Turkish market for their new left back.

Galatasaray want Ridvan Yilmaz

Rangers struck a deal to sign left back Ridvan Yilmaz from Besiktas, striking a deal worth around £5million for the 21-year-old.

Reports from Turkish outlet Fanatik had claimed that Tottenham wanted Yilmaz, so this seemed like a real coup for Rangers.

An attack-minded left back with ah huge future ahead of him, Yilmaz looked like a strong signing for Rangers – but he’s barely been seen.

Yilmaz has turned out just four times for Rangers for a total of just 188 minutes.

Borna Barisic has kept his place at left back and Giovanni van Bronckhorst hasn’t really given Yilmaz much of a chance.

That has resulted in rumours about Yilmaz and his future at Ibrox.

Turkish news outlet Takvim now claim that Galatasaray have put Yilmaz on their list for a potential January move.

Galatasaray do have a left back in Patrick van Aanholt but now want Yilmaz to make a swift return to Turkey as competition for the Dutchman.

It’s stated that Yilmaz isn’t planning to leave Rangers and wants to fight for his place, which is exactly the attitude Rangers are seeking.

Ultimately, Yilmaz is new to Scotland and still learning the language, so Rangers are just being patient with their summer signing.

Galatasaray may well come knocking in January but – as things stand – it looks like Yilmaz will be staying at Rangers.
