Ian Wright has claimed that Brenden Aaronson is ‘such an exciting player’ after the role he played in Pascal Struijk’s goal during Leeds United’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (09/10/22 at 2:55 pm).

The USA international, with a sea of Palace shirts around him, dazzled his way into the penalty area from Leeds’ right channel, before trying to guide his left-footed shot into the bottom corner.

Palace keeper Vicente Guaita managed to palm it away, before Pascal Struijk, in the middle of the box, eventually guided the ball into the back of the net to open the scoring.

Like a skier pushing for Olympic Gold, Aaronson was at absolute ease with the ball at his feet and he showcased the outstanding talent he has been producing since Jesse Marsch brought him to England.

This is a prime example of a manager’s past relationship with a player working wonders for him because Aaronson is proving to be a top purchase, so far.

And the energetic midfielder is getting his due rewards, including from Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

“It was beautiful play from Aaronson,” said Wright. “He’s such an exciting player. Once he gets on the ball. Look at his feet, pace, skill and control.

“He gets his shot away and it’s a good reaction (from Struijk). It’s a good goal. But Aaronson, it was magnificent play from him. Just Magnificent.”

AARONSON TRANSFER A LONG TIME COMING…

The 21-year-old is a player that was talked about when Marcelo Bielsa was in the Elland Road dugout, and in truth, he would have suited the Leeds legend’s style down to a tee.

A player of immense quality with the ball, as he displayed for the goal, he also has great intelligence when pressing for the ball and a high level of aggression.

If Leeds had purchased the player over 12 months ago, then he would have built quite the relationship with Kalvin Phillips in the middle of the park.

It’s what the Whites were crying out for, but whilst those two won’t link up, a special partnership between his fellow countryman, Tyler Adams, is brewing in Yorkshire.
