Italian outlet CMW claim Liverpool are readying a player-plus-cash bid to sign Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic at the end of the season – reports stating that Liverpool could include Joe Gomez to land the £61-rated ace.
Milinkovic-Savic, 27, is considered one of the best midfielders in Italian football. Joining the club in the summer of 2015, he has since clocked up an enormous 302 appearances in all competitions. He has had a hand in 119 goals.
But the Serbia international’s future at Lazio is in doubt. His contract expires in the summer of 2024. It means that next summer, he will be in the final 12 months of his deal. He will be available to buy, one that is a long time coming.
Liverpool are interested – with Milinkovic-Savic shining this season, scoring four and creating five in 11 games. The Reds want him, but would have to spend £61million to sign him. But, the Reds have a plan to reduce that price tag.

Indeed, they are willing to reduce that asking price by including Gomez. The report claims that Gomez is rated in the region of £30million. So, it might be a bid of around £30million plus Gomez to tempt Lazio into selling the midfielder.
Liverpool readying player-plus-cash bid to sign Milinkovic-Savic
The Reds need a player like Milinkovic-Savic. They need a midfielder no question. But if they are to go after one, it needs to be one that can have an impact in the final third. The last player they had that did that was Gini Wijnaldum.
Jude Bellingham is the obvious candidate. While he would cost a whole lot more than Milinkovic-Savic, he might offer Liverpool a player that solves the issue for the next 15 years. He could be one of the best in the world.
Milinkovic-Savic is 27. Still young enough to make an impact well into his thirties, but not a Bellingham. So, signing him would be a massive boost to the Reds – but only as second choice to Bellingham, if the latter is not available.
