According to Calciomercato, Everton enquired about Liverpool target Hakan Calhanoglu during the summer transfer window.
Everton want Liverpool target
Well, as a result of his fine efforts for Inter Milan, the Turkey international has won himself plenty of admirers on Merseyside.
It was a separate story from Calciomercato which revealed that Liverpool are interested in Calhanoglu.
The Italian news outlet add that Newcastle and Nottingham Forest attempted to sign the German-born maestro before the September 1st deadline, although he eventually stayed at the San Siro.
Everton made contact with Inter Milan over a deal for Calhanoglu after he scored eight goals and provided 13 assists in all competitions last season, helping them win the Coppa Italia.

Calciomercato add that Inter Milan may consider selling their No.20 in January in a £26m deal, due to the fact he will only have 12 months remaining on his contract in the summer of 2023.
Everton & Liverpool could have a shot at Calhanoglu deal
In our view, Calhanoglu’s contract situation works in favour of Everton and Liverpool.
As aforesaid, Inter Milan are pondering a sale while his stock is high, and Calciomercato add that the Serie A side are also struggling to meet his personal demands during negotiations over a new deal.
Therefore – thanks to the television money given to Premier League clubs – Everton and Liverpool find themselves in a good position to satisfy his demands, while the £26m fee also shouldn’t be an issue for a player of this quality.
Calhanoglu showed his important to Inter Milan on Tuesday as he scored a spectacular goal in the 1-0 win over Barcelona, giving Simone Inzaghi a huge three points in Group C of the Champions League.
Be sure to keep an eye on this saga going into 2023, as the £144,000-a-week man could soon end up on Merseyside.
