Phil Foden is reportedly on the brink of signing a new contract with Manchester City after months of talks between the reigning Premier League champions and the 22-year-old England international.
According to the Athletic, the winger is set to pen a new long-term contract with his boyhood club, with the report stating that Foden will sign a deal that will extend the attacker’s current terms by six years after what has been a lengthy negotiation between the Manchester giants and the player.
It has been a weekend to remember for Foden after the attacker bagged his first professional hat-trick for City in their 6-3 win against rivals Manchester United in one of the best games of the season so far, and now the forward is set to sign his new contract with the club in the coming days.
Fabrizio Romano first reported City’s contract talks with Foden on the Here We Go Podcast back in January of this year. And after months of talks, a deal now looks to finally be agreed on between the winger and the Manchester giants, with the youngster realistically never at any real threat of leaving the club.

Foden came through City’s academy and is a boyhood fan of the club, and the attacker is regarded by many as one of England’s best players in the current senior pool as well as a talent who could go on to become a legend for both the Three Lions and the Manchester side.
Indeed, Foden’s new contract has been a very long time coming. However, City can now relax knowing that the breakthrough has now been made, and one of Europe’s best young players will now be on their books for the coming years.
Foden signing new Manchester City contract is bigger than most signings

City uncovered a gem in their academy in Foden, and after years of careful development from the youth set-up all the way up to Pep Guardiola, the Manchester side have seen their efforts well and truly rewarded, and the winger more than deserves a bumper new contract at the club.
Few clubs ever get so lucky to have a talent like Foden come through their academy, and for many City fans, the attacker signing a new deal will feel bigger and more significant than most signings made by Guardiola in the years to come.
