Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has told Barcelona star Raphinha on Instagram ‘I am your fan’ after he shone on international duty with Brazil.
Whilst Gabriel was left out of Tite’s latest Brazil squad before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Raphinha was selected and he is now becoming a key figure for a team that are one of the favourites to win the whole competition.
The 25-year-old assisted two and scored two as Brazil beat Ghana and Tunesia in international friendlies – and now the next stop is Qatar.
Raphinha’s summer transfer to Barcelona has certainly helped in his development, after the La Liga giants paid Leeds United £55 million for the player (Sky Sports).
But it could have been very different for the all-action trickster because there were a number of Premier League teams keen to take him on board, including Mikel Arteta making him a ‘top priority’.
Nonetheless, when Raphinha posted on his IG that he is ‘so proud’ to don the colours of Brazil, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva praised his fellow countryman in the comments section, whilst Gabriel told him ‘I am your fan’.
RAPHINHA WOULD HAVE SHONE AT ARSENAL
Brazilians and Barcelona, there has always been a connection and there will forever be a dream of a young star in South America to don their famous colours.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that Raphinha, with the help of footballing great Deco, was so eager to make that move to the Nou Camp.
Just like he is doing with Barcelona and Brazil right now, he would have cooked in the colours of Arsenal and possibly even dethroned Bukayo Saka from the starting XI.
Given that Arsenal missed out on signing that senior wide player, especially one for the right-hand side, it will be interesting to see if any moves are made during the January transfer window.
