Liverpool want Jude Bellingham and he has now been hailed as an ‘exceptional talent’ by former Reds goalkeeper David James.

The Reds are in need of some new energy in the middle of the park.

James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcantara are all over 30 and Fabinho will hit the 30 mark next year.

Not that careers just end at 30 but Liverpool need some fresh quality, especially with Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all out of contract next summer.

Arthur Melo is unlikely to be a long-term solution so Liverpool may be in the market for a big-money addition in 2023.

Liverpool want Jude Bellingham

The most popular name is Jude Bellingham, with the Borussia Dortmund and England star seeming like an absolutely perfect fit for Liverpool.

The Daily Mail claimed in August that Bellingham is expected to sign for Liverpool next summer.

Liverpool are hardly the only club interested in Bellingham though with Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid also linked.

Bellingham is only 19 but he has shown all the hallmarks of becoming the next great midfielder.

The former Birmingham City ace will have his pick of the world’s elite clubs but you can expect Dortmund to demand a staggering fee next summer.

FSG don’t usually get involved with bidding wars so the question will be just how far are they willing to go in order to sign Bellingham?

A move will surely cost at least £100million and that would be a club-record signing for Liverpool if they can pull it off.

Bellingham has been coming in for huge praise of late, especially having played so well for England against Germany on Monday night.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James has now told the Liverpool Echo that he thinks Bellingham is simply an ‘exceptional’ talent.

James added that Bellingham is also the exact kind of character that Liverpool need, believing that his combination of talent and character makes him a ‘double power’.

James clearly wants to see Bellingham join Liverpool but it’s now over to FSG to figure out the finances of a deal.

“Yes, well I say all out for, Jude Bellingham as a player is exceptional, given his age and everything. He’s an exceptional talent,” said James. “But more importantly, having done an interview with him once, as a character he is fantastic. I think again, the idea of just seeing someone’s player status and performances on a football pitch, via video or whatever, you want to know what the person is like.”

“From my experience with Jude Bellingham, he is the type of character that you want to bring into the Liverpool squad. Then you add his ability and you have got in a way a double power. But I’m not here to say that Liverpool need to lose a player and replace him with Jude Bellingham. I think with the quality of the squad and the quality of the coaching staff, Liverpool have already got a side that is capable of competing, but if they can add to that, all well and good,” he added.
