Glen Kamara admits he has ‘always dreamed of playing in the Premier League’ amid reports linking the Rangers ace with a £10 million move to Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa, speaking to Finnish publication Helsingin Sanomat, translated by the Daily Record.
If there is indeed some truth to reports suggesting Rangers are willing to accept just £10 million for their 26-year-old playmaker, then don’t be surprised if Aston Villa end up with quite a fight on their hands. Especially when you consider that the likes of Leeds, West Ham and Newcastle have allegedly shown an interest in Kamara during recent windows.
Then again, the Midland giants do have a rather obvious advantage over any rival suitors.

Kamara, a bargain £50,000 signing from Dundee United in 2019, was an integral piece of the Gerrard jigsaw at Ibrox. He played a major role in their 2021/22 ‘Invincible’ campaign, and was a colossal presence on the European stage as the Gers accumulated an enviable collection of scalps.
One suspects the chance to work with his former boss again south of the border – with Kamara open about his desire to shine on the Premier League stage – may be an opportunity too good to turn down.
Aston Villa like Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara
“I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League,” explains Kamara. “And perhaps not just playing in the English Premier League, but in the top five leagues in general. They all interest me.
“Let’s see what happens. My time at Rangers has been good. The club has been good to me. I’ve been there for almost four years. Who knows what the future will bring.
“We just have to wait and see what happens.”
According to TEAMtalk, Aston Villa are ramping up their interest in the languid ball-player ahead of the January transfer window. But would Rangers really consider a winter sale? Kamara’s form under Giovanni van Bronckhorst has left a lot to be desired of late. He remains a key player on the blue-side of Glasgow however.
Interestingly, Kamara started his career with Arsenal under Arsene Wenger. He made just one first-team appearance for the Gunners however before heading north to Dundee.
