Newcastle United are signing Garang Kuol
Central Coast Mariners attacker Garang Kuol is on the verge of agreeing to join Newcastle.
Reports in Australia suggest that a four-year, £25,000-a-week deal is in the pipeline for Kuol as Newcastle beat a host of club to his signature.
The ‘special’ 18-year-old has already hit four goals in eight league games for Central Coast Mariners and is being backed for a huge future.
Kuol doesn’t yet qualify for a work permit though and Newcastle will need to loan him out in January, possibly to Portugal.
Newcastle would be taking a long-term view with Kuol but it’s hard not to be excited already.
Kuol has now picked up his first cap for Australia having come on as a substitute against New Zealand earlier today.
Kuol made an instant impact, producing a blazing run down the right flank to eventually set up Jason Cummings’ goal.
That sheer pace is a threat to any defence and that’s ultimately why Newcastle believe there is so much potential in Kuol.
The Australian media were certainly impressed with Fox Sports rating Kuol at 7.5 out of 10.
They stated that Kuol is ‘simply thrilling’ whilst praising his ‘immense speed’ and ‘searing pace’, even believing that he can be a ‘game-breaker’ off the bench at the World Cup.
This is music to the ears of Newcastle fans, who will increasingly feel like they are about to land a star in the making.
