Jamie O’Hara has told TalkSPORT that Tottenham signing Ivan Perisic “hasn’t been great” despite his “amazing” ability with both feet – stating he has “not been good enough” to get into the Premier League Team of the Season so far.

Perisic, 33, has featured in all nine of Tottenham’s matches in the league and Champions League so far. Starting six times, Perisic even played on the right in the 6-2 win over Leicester. In those nine games, he has laid on four assists.

Crucial assists, too. The opener against Marseille, the equaliser in injury time against Chelsea, the assist for the winner against Wolves and one against Leicester. Signed on a free transfer, he has made an excellent start to life at Spurs.

O’Hara, alongside another former Tottenham player in Jason Cundy, picked the Premier League Team of the Season so far. But O’Hara gave an honest take of his old side’s new signing, saying he has not been good enough for the TOTS.

“Perisic for me, he hasn’t been great. He has been good. Set-pieces are great, he digs crosses out amazing with both feet. He’s so both-footed. He’s got that in the locker. I don’t think he’s good enough to get in the TOTS, rotated too.”

Perisic will be delighted with the start he has made. Despite his age, he has been used regularly by Antonio Conte – whether that is from the off, or off the bench. He will also be happy with his numbers, four assists already is strong.

Indeed, Perisic sits top of the Tottenham’s assist rankings this season. But is he good enough to be in the Premier League Team of the Season so far? It is difficult to include him, given he has only started six of those nine games.

But when on the pitch, Perisic has had an impact both in his own third – and in the final third. Given it is his first season in the Premier League, he is certainly adapting well and is only going to continue improving under Conte.
